The House Fits—But Does Your Life? 8 Lifestyle Questions McKinney Move-Up Buyers Should Ask

Most move-up buyers start with a list.

Four bedrooms. Three baths. Bigger kitchen. Office. Game room. Three-car garage. Maybe a pool.

There is nothing wrong with that list.

But after helping families make real estate decisions for years, I think there is a better place to begin:

What is not working about your life in your current house?

That question sounds simple, but it can completely change a home search.

Maybe the problem is not that you need another 1,000 square feet. Maybe everyone walks through the kitchen at exactly the same time every morning.

Maybe you technically have enough bedrooms, but two people work from home and the dining room has become a permanent Zoom studio.

Maybe your teenagers don’t need a game room. They need a place to bring friends without taking over the entire first floor.

Maybe the issue is the commute, the yard, storage, aging parents visiting, or the fact that every Saturday seems to involve driving across McKinney four times.

A successful move-up purchase should solve real problems, not simply increase square footage.
